Plot: After breaking into a primate research facility, a group of animal rights activists discover caged chimps chained up before banks of screens displaying horrifying, violent images. Ignoring the warning...( read more read more... )s of the terrified researcher who maintains that the chimps are infected, they begin to free the animals and are immediately subjected to a bloody attack from the enraged creatures. Twenty-eight days later, Cycle courier Jim awakes from a coma in the deserted intensive care unit of a London hospital. He wanders out into a church where he finds dead bodies piled in heaps on the chapel floor. A sudden explosion from a makeshift bomb heralds the arrival of fellow "survivors" Selina and Mark. They take Jim to safety and explain to him that this infection is transmitted by blood and overwhelms the infected victim with a murderous rage within seconds. Britain has been overrun, and they have no way of knowing if it has spread worldwide. Their only hope of survival may lie in the hands of a Manchester group of soldiers, as they claim to have the "answer" to infection and invite any survivors to join them at their blockade. Faced with no practical alternative, the group sets out northwards, unaware that the worst is yet to come.

An epic horror flick. I dont think this movie got enough acclaim as it should have. Yes it took its place as one of 2003's big blockbusters, but i cant help but feel that it diserved more than that. Horror movie tend to feel a bit cheep, and a bit pointless when they are done wrong. This one however was epic, whether you like horror or not, because its a bit more than a horror movie.
No its not the greatest movie ever made (of course), its not the greatest movie in this genre even though the genre it belongs to can be safely said to be half full of utter crap, but its still a damn good film.

Unlike the American zombie films the Brits seem to put a twist on the genre and make it something completley different and I like it. A great Drama/Thriller with a strong storyline to follow.

Wonderfully disorienting take on the zombie film, solving the initial problem of why zombies just aren't that scary (they are so slow and awkward, you can basically outrun them.) Their solution: Really Effing Fast Zombies.
    Yikes.

this is a great new take on the Zombie genre. Great story and the acting by the cast was up to the task. The effects were horrifying but not over the top. I enjoyed that this film was done without the use of CG or real big effects. The filmmakers used the talents of the cast to effectively display the imagery.

Very good. very moving, sad, and somber. Disturbing too, but very good. The scene in the movie where Henry Francis Lytes Abide with Me is playing is very upsetting. If a movie can do that to me, it has done a good job. Even if I am sad after.

Just a tad too much social commentary and not quite enough zombie fun, but far superior to its sequel.

Both Days, and Weeks are great zombie movies. A nice change-up from all the slow, dim-witted, cliche zombies.

"His fear began when he woke up alone. His terror began when he realised he wasn't."

Animal rights activists free a group of infected chimpanzees to horrifying results in this speculative sci-fi horror effort from Trainspotting director Danny Boyle. Waking from a coma in a deserted London hospital 28 days later, bicycle courier Jim (Cillian Murphy) takes to the deserted city streets in a state of mystified confusion. Joining forces with another group of survivors following a terrifying encounter in a seemingly abandoned church, Jim soon learns the truth behind the deserted streets and the menacing creatures that lurk in the shadows. It's soon revealed that the chimpanzees had been harboring a deadly virus that sends its victims into a furious, murderous rage, and in the days following the initial exposure, the entire population was nearly wiped out due to the resulting homicidal rampage. Is there still a glimmer of hope for humanity -- or has the deadly "rage" virus found its way to foreign shores and infected the entire planet?

I have to say that I love this film. A lot of people are saying that it is not good, because of it's low budget. That is not true at all. The film quality is as great as any other film you have seen. The acting in it is portrayed wonderfully and the script is good as well. One of the things that I like about the movie is that ( in my case at least) it gets you attached to the characters. A lot of films will have a good plot, as this one does, but do not leave you feeling much about the characters. I think one of the things about Jim was when he went to his parents house and found that picture with a note on the back. It really made him seem more realistic as he takes the picture and becomes so upset. I gotta say, he was my favorite character. I also like how Selena develops and becomes more caring as time goes on. Frank is just plain nice, and Jim even refers to him as " dad" at one point in the film. I do have to say though, I prefer the first ending to the second one that is now being shown. The second one just doesn't cut it for me. So all in all, this movie is one that that has a great plot, great characters, and a well designed script. I definitely recommend it.

I think these days zombie films are better than the old ones from 70s to 80s. Better special effects and music. This movie was great to watch that great suspence start to end just like its sequal. Only Britian's point of view and had a very good cast.

Not only one of the best zombie movies, but also one of the greatest horror films ever made, and that's really saying something. Intelligent, scary, brutal, funny, poignant and touching.

I only just saw this movie and have waited six years to see it, and all I can say is, it was more than worth the wait.

Some of it was corny and it went from really quiet at times to extremely loud so I kept having to mess with the sound, but I liked it. It was interesting to see zombies that were easy to kill and didn't come in the 1000s for once.

Not bad up to a point, but then sort of stupid toward the end. Love the initial scenes of the post-outbreak London--probably the most well done part of the movie.

very good movie. Quite different from other films of the same genre. In american zombie films, theres only fighting and killing zombies from start to end without much of a story line. but in this , there is a very strong story line , very realistic, obvious, no dumb stunts , effects or corny dialogues.
the empty london scene in the beginning of the movie was my favourite part.it was so beautiful, (quite like fantasy). Any 1 notices the music going on in that scent?? amazing!!
my other favourite part was when the survivors were driving to manchester . the photography, acting, ect was so beautifully european (american movies can't do that). U actually get so attached with the survivors.
The scenes after the zombie killings by the army were below my expectations(i feel the director could have used more imagination)
The last scene was again beautiful!!!

A great insight to what could happen in this day and age..... Biological Warfare. made me think about what could happen if russia or china ect. made a biological bomb and dropped it in the heart of london. amazing plot, even though the story turns halfway through the movie amazing. the rough camera shots and the screen shots made me believe a story like this could happen. 5/5!

This is what annoys me. Zombies are the dead, who have risen to an airborne virus. The "Infected" in 28 days Later are Rage Victims, those who have gotton infected caused by a bite on the arm. Get your facts right

This what Resident Evil should have been! Not that sack of crap directed by a sack of crap (Paul W S Anderscum).
It had a lot of elements from the Resident Evil games unlike the actual Resident Evil movies which the only thing they shared with the games was character names and a couple of creatures.

Who cares if it was named a 'zombie movie' it was brilliant! It was so weird, and it did make me feel so uncomfortable, just imagining if i was there and what id do, just strange. I liked where they found the army base, and it was an excellent twist to them making them feel safe then telling them the girls would be used to reproduce. The only bit i hated was where cillian murphy stuck his thumbs in that guys eye sockets...that really did make me heave. The start was a bit confusing for me, but other than that an all round brill movie. Watch it!
