MCT:October 30, 2008The marketing and the packaging of this movie do too much to try to make it look all sexy and crap, and I think that undermines what it's about. It's a gritty story about people with real problems who struggle to do the right thing and redeem themselves. It's very well acted and well put together, and the music is a nice touch.

One thing this movie had that I didn't expect so much was power. The scenes were wonderfully crafted to evoke as much emotion as possible. A help to this was the great musical sound of the blues. Just a guitar and a voice that pound their way into your brain.
We all know that Samuel L. Jackson is basically some sort of God sent to earth to better it with his greatness. Christina Ricci did an equally amazing job. -

interesting story line about people who are in need of serious help and end up helping each other. Not too many people would be interested in this type of movie but I thought it was pretty well thought up.
I've watched this movie about 4 times and have enjoyed the drama of it every time. and yes Samuel L. and the guitar was fentastic. -
MCT:September 8, 2008The first thing that I have to warn you about Black Snake Moan is that Samuel L. Jackson should never be allowed to sing on film for as long as he lives.
Black Snake Moan is about a Tennessee blues singer (Jackson) whose wife just left finding a young girl (Christina Ricci who is no longer Wednesday Addams) left for dead on the side of the road near his house. He nurses her back to health, but eventually decides to chain her up in his house so that he can save her soul from the addiction that haunts her.
The movie opens with Rae (Ricci) having sex with Justin Timberlake before he leaves for his tour in the service. She then proceeds to have sex with a crack dealer in a motel room. Then she goes to a party where she gets high and drunk, leading to some random guy having sex with her while she is wearing football pads. Finally she almost has sex with yet another guy but laughs at the size of his equipment, causing him to beat her and leave her on the side of the road.
Honestly, this film seems like an excuse for Christina Ricci to have simulated sex and Samuel L. Jackson to drop "mother fucker" a dozen times in a song. Jackson and Ricci are well cast and are good in their roles, but the plot seems to lag, especially the ending. The concept was great, but the execution was tainted. -

This was pretty good,I dont know what I was expecting I guess,It was entertaining.I wouldn't say there are any Oscar worthy performances or anything like that but 2 people found each other and helped each other at very pivotal moments in each others life.Let me know what you guys thought?Thanks =)

Very Good Movie, Sam & Ricci do their thing in a movie about redemption and faith. It's got it's comedic moments in it as well. I reccomend you watch it.

Black Snake Moan started off alright but that last third took a total shit. Jackson was good when he wasn't singing (which he can't, by the way.) As much as I've always wanted to see Christina Ricci 80-100% nude, this was before she lost a lot of weight and looked like an alien as a result. And as much as I like Justin Timberlake he should really stick to music and quit playing hopeless bitches.

Sex and race and redemption in the Deep South...
The film is carried mainly on the performances which are excellent by each of their own right: Hell-bent for leather and courageous...
Samuel L. Jackson shines as he disappears into the role of Lazarus, a deeply religious but broken-down farmer and former blues musician...as does Christina Ricci as she embodies this poor, mixed-up creature who's fire and brimstone one moment and a willing slave to her intense lust in the next, all the while letting you experience both her pain and her hope with every little nuance...fantastic...

I was very impressed by the raw honesty of this movie, one cannot watch this movie without an open mind in order to fully understand it's meaning. we all have our demons and there is never simply "one" way to rid ourselves of them. Christina Ricci rocked her character and a surprisingly good performance by a very sexy Justin Timberlake and as usual Samuel L. Jackson was flawless. Kick ass film!!

This movie is nothing like you expect. No bondage per se. Watch it with an open mind. Ricci's performance is awesome. Why Mr. Jackson doesn't have 5 or 6 Oscars is beyond me.

I Loved thisMovie . It Kicked Azz. Music was off the chain. The Story was AweSome, has alot of action, Drama.(but isn't this what life is all about). A major must see. If you Love Music & you play the guitar ---buy this one. Best music so far since "Purple Rain".
