brillent action adventure film love to watch again and again disappointed that it was an alien but other wise i enjoyed
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of getting away by by pure chance. I agree with Devin from Chud.com, it's the best Mummy movie they've ever made.
And let me personally take a moment to say something to Janis Kaminski,
"1) You lied to Steven, you didn't watch the earlier movies
2) Enough with the back lighting, he's Indiana Jones not Gloria Swanson"
God I'd love to read Darabont's draft
The Movie in itself was good, but as part of the "Indiana Jones" franchise, I found it to be the weakest in the series. After 19 years, I was expecting more, however, as I said, the movie
was good, just not good enough for "Indy"!
I was dissapointed with the end of the movie as well!
The first thing that you notice when you begin this movie experience is how completely OLD Harrison Ford looks - especially w/ the early action sequences. Then LaBeouf's character comes in, and it seems like Ford gets a little life in him. The acting wasn't bad and there were some classic Indiana Jones moments but i think that it just wasn't the high standard that the original 3 held. The story was the main problem with this movie. It's not that it was done especially poor, but this one was just too much of a stretch even for Dr. Jones and company. I would still recommend it, but I wouldn't say it were in the same ball park as the first 3 films.
I loved it, naturally because I am an Indy fan. I loved the fact that they brought Karen Allen back into it.
This one is good I watch this. The only one I watch in the theater this is the last one I see instead the indiana jone I havn't seen it yet
I've discovered something about movies I'm looking forward to: If I have any high expectations for them, I'll end up being highly disappointed. So when I watched this installment of Indiana Jones, I went in knowing I would not enjoy it as much as "Last Crusade" but expected a lot of fun action sequences.
With that being said, I had a good time watching this movie, the switch from Nazis to Russian KGB Operatives was both refreshing and enjoyable. Needless to say, watching a decrepit, old Indiana Jones swing on his bullwhip and get beaten up was thoroughly entertaining. Even some of the unnecessary scenes were pleasant to watch.
Now for the trash talk. The phrase "suspension of disbelief" will be brought up when discussing this movie. The main thing audiences will disapprove of most after watching this film will be the exact nature of the crystal skull, it's origin, and the ending of the film; all due to a necessary "suspension of disbelief". I can understand why people who enjoyed the previous installments of Indiana Jones will dislike the science-fiction element of this newer installment, but I could also argue the ridiculousness of a cup that grants eternal life or a "radio to God"; both of which require a significant "supsension of disbelief".
I'll admit there are several things this movie could've done without (especially Ray Winstones character), but they're in the movie and they're gonna stay in the movie. If you really wanted to make this movie better, you should've written a better script before they started production on this one. - Basically, this is a summer blockbuster disguised as an Indiana Jones movie. So if you feel cheated out of a good time watching this flick, just go watch "Iron Man" again and keep the forums empty of your pathetic whining.
PS: On a minor second viewing of this, I wondered why they didn't consider throwing in an older Short Round as part of the equation?
"You wanna be an archaeologist?
Get out of the library!"
wow Indi is back! This should be the greatest movie comeback of all time! NOPE! It wasnt a terrible movie, just placed next to the first three, why? And, um, aliiens. But if you havnt seen it, do so if for nothing except finishing the saga...
i was dissapointed with this film, although some of it was really funny and really good i think the ending was bad ><
Very disappointing. Hopefully they will make a 5th so Indy & Harrison Ford doesn't lose his reputation.
Was okay, Go shia! Ford's just like wine, the older the better... even though we can't say the same for the movie franchise
A nice return to the series. Different but in the same light of the previous films. Well done, Spielberg
Steven and George were obviously high when they conceived this movie. What a shame, because it initially had a pretty good story that fits around the 1950s - Russians, cold war, crystal skull of alien origin and also 19 years have past since the last crusade back in 1938.
The first 20 minutes starts off reasonably well with good old fashion Indy action and only a smidge of CGI used for certain elements. Then first sign of things going bad is having Indy escape a nuclear blast by...hiding in a fridge! WTF! Yes, he's a hero...he is also a human being, not superman. I tried to brush that incident aside and blame Lucas. Story furthers along with good exposition of the plot resulting in a mediocre action scene with Harrison and Shia escaping the KGB via motorcycle; a chase with alot left desire in my opinion. Then the story drags us into beautiful, but laborious set pieces that only work for Indy to solve the riddles and ultimately get captured by super bitch and her soviet minions.
In comes Marion (nice to see her back) who smiles just abit too much for someone who's life is being threatened, and the discovery that Mutt (Shia) is Indy's father which is dealt with rather flimsy and comes across unconvincing and implausible.
All becomes rather laughable when Indy & co try to escape the russians and are recaptured again in a comical scene of stuck in quick sand, yet not adding anything to move the story's pace.
John Hurt's talent is wasted by playing a annoying character who has rediculously lost his memory after staring at the crystal skull. As with casting, all are acceptable and of what you expect from a film of this tailore, except a minority. Ray Winston, I don't think should have been in this. Ray's talent does not suit this type of genre and hollywood hero, and I cannot buy the fact he's a double agent...or triple agent, as the end proves. He just seems out of place in the whole film. Major miscast.
One action sequence that does stand-out, but not for all the right reasons is the jungle chase. Very fun and exciting action that unfortunately has suffered the CGI-syndrome. Not only can Indy's kid ride a motorcycle, he can swing like a tarzen on vines and fence like the 3 muskateers. The sword fight between vehicles is cringeable, and sadly most of the fight scenes seem cartoony and lack the resonance, realism and tricks that remind of an Indy movie.
After the big action sequence, the film rushes to a conclusion that is something out of X-Files and the worst Mummy sequel. Everything falls apart - no, I'm not talking about the pyramid. The film ends with the close encounters flying away and Indy getting married in a cheesy way. The film did hurt, (we didn't even get a good villian death scene) but I don't think it's hurt the franchise. The only thing holding the film together was Harrison, who is always great, special effects and the story that was plausible that swiftly decided "Anything goes", as Kate Capshaw once sang.
Indiana Jones will always be a trilogy to me, and in a way Indy was inspired by the '1930s' serials, therefore that's where he should stay.
Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was a pretty good movie for the most part. I don't think it was amazing like everyone is thinking it was going to be. There are many other good movie to see that come out this summer besides this one. I think that Harison Ford kind of showed his age in this movie. Shila Labuff didn't do an amazing job like I thought he would. I don't really think that this was his kind of movie though. I hadn't seen the first 3 when I had gone to see this at midnight last night. I thought to myself though this looked pretty good and it was. I really don't think that huge action fans will like this one though. It was mostly about trying to solve the mystery and find the crystal skull. So their wasn't a whole lot of action. Going into this movie I expected a lot of action. I was kind of falling asleep during it because it was slight bit boring. I mean I think it was kind of good. It was way to far-fetched for one. Going into this movie though you have to expect it to be very far-fetched. I think that it's cool how they filmed it. I like how it takes place in older days. The acting was only good nothing special. The visuals were very cool though. Overall this was a pretty good movie nothing special. Go check it out though. Hopefully you will enjoy it.
Definitely wasn't the best Jones movie. But it was decent. It was slow very slow. Worth seeing if you are a Jones fan though
im peruvian and this movie was a SHAME!!! Nazca in cuzco?.. indy learning quechua from... pancho villa? (he was mexican for god sake!)
What about a movie where the statue of liberty is in LA and Golden Gate in Alaska??
got this from a freind..seen the rest..so may as well give it a whirl.....mixed reviews..has indy lost it?........SORRY!!!!! lost interest 1/2 way thru`.... best 1/2......& what happened to the WHIP DR. JONES??????? the only hero i know that has 1..........weakest of `em all.....must find sumthin` better to do............
This is definitely the worst of the Indiana Jones movies so far...:( Not a total waste of time, but not a movie I'd like to watch again either...:P
Loved it! Indiana Jones is the same as ever, and there's nothing wrong with Shia laBeouf in it either...
Uno scandalo di film. Ridicolizza il personaggio principale, rovinando tutto quel che aveva di buono. Indiana Jones diventa la caricatura di sè stesso. Trama assolutamente fuori luogo. Inguardabile.
Indiana Jones was born on a beach; quite literally, he was the result of a need to escape for his producer George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg. A new kind of hero who was the old kind of hero, and just as their instincts had proven right on films as different as Star Wars and Jaws, so Indiana Jones came to be a huge hit; a wry, warm antidote to the dark anti-heroes of the ?70s.
After the relatively quick one-two-three of the original trilogy, there then came the massive hiatus that brings us, after 19 long years, to the latest. The delay caused trepidation among the fans but, though there'll be those who disagree, the finished, and most likely final, instalment in the Indy saga is a minor triumph plucked from the jaws of disappointment. Indy is older, the old chemistry takes some time to reconfigure fully, and the thrill of where Indy might take us in a globe made smaller by the worldwide web and cheap airline travel has diminished. But Spielberg hasn't diluted the integrity of his keynote character. Indy IV preserves Jones' core credentials, celebrating his intelligence, his urbanity and his stubborn, scholarly kick-arse cool.
The story, too, cleaves close to the usual format: 1) the pulse-racing opening scenario, 2) the back-to-Marshall-College pause for breath, 3) the accidental treasure trail ? because Indy is never so vulgar as to go looking for riches on purpose ? and 4) the jackpot final highway, an exciting 45-minute rollercoaster that may test your credulity but never your attention span. The difference, though, is that ? as promised ? Spielberg has changed his palette, taking Indy from 1938 to 1957 in real time and switching the gaudy, Republic serial-inspired glow of the original movies for a beautiful, pastel-hued ?50s look.
Cast-wise, it's impeccable, but here's where the debits creep in. Though it seems on page to be an ensemble piece, Indy 4 is a crowded place where Jones comes first and everyone else follows. The upside of this is that Cate Blanchett and the excellent LaBeouf have a fantastic opportunity to play villain and sidekick respectively. The downside is that great character actors such as Ray Winstone and John Hurt don't have anything to play except hamstrung expositional roles. And similarly, with such great actors, it's a shame that the added effects don't always match what's actually there: as Peter Jackson proved with the wayward dinosaur chase in King Kong, CG spectacle can detract if there's no valid danger, and though there are squirmy scenes, Indy 4 struggles to find its peril level.
But the question is whether this is a real Indy movie, and the answer is a resounding yes. At 65, Harrison Ford isn't the whippersnapper he was, and maybe the opening athletic chase scene is a little too much to expect from him, but when he's punching big, bad Russkies on the nose, Ford hits the spot in more ways than one. He may be a little off on some of his comic timing, and the rekindled-romance subplot won't work for younger viewers ? and, hey, neither will the ?I like Ike? gag ? but this is Indy as back in our world as he'll ever be. It's hard to conceive of another contemporary film that would please so many people today, but that's what Indiana Jones movies always did and what this one does right now. It won't change your life but, if you're in the right frame of mind, it will change your mood: you might wince, you might groan, you might beg to differ on the big, silly climax, but you'll never stop smiling. Think of Indy as an escape, which is all he was ever meant to be, and all he was ever really meant to help us do.
different would be the word best used to describe this advetnture, but if yoru a fan that shouldnt matter, cuz its good old fashion fun and nice to see harrison ford saddle up again as indy
He´s back!!!Flixster - Share Movies
The wait is finally over and it was worth to wait for the return of the man in the hat.You can say whatever you want(personally,i don´t give a fuck). The Kingdom of the Crystal was amazing and funny.Just as good as Raiders,Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade, this movie goes faster and faster and also has amazing action scenes and ass kicking stunts and a lot of humour.Harrison was amazing and he looks better than never since the last Indy. But he has that daredevil spirit of Dr.Jones.Shia was a great additcion to the saga(he was cool like a greaser)And Cate Blanchett, goddamn, she is such a badass as Irina Spalko and puts the other Indy baddies to a shame. There´s nothing wrong with this one and Spielberg and Lucas can bring another adventure of Indiana Jones(with Harrison,of course)Dr.Jones, welcome back.Yay!!!

I really liked this movie!!
I had low expectations cuz all my friends said it was average/ shit lol, but yeh it really suprised me!!
haha i thought it was entertaining, acting/ characters was good, strong special efects etc
Excellent job!
Now this is the movie that all the fans of Indy were waiting for, man.I loved it.I WANT MORE!!!
Fun, enterteining, genuinely amusing. Harrison Ford's very good interpretation, perfect in Indy's role. I do not believe that it could demand him more to this movie.
The movie is just like a pile of tard that has been lying around as old as Ford himself. What a lame and pathetic excuse for a movie. The garbage of filth coming from Spielberg and Lucas is such a shame. If you want to waste your money then go and see it. Cate Blanchett is a fine actress, probably one of the best, but in this she disgraced herself. Why even bother taking a role like this? Ford is too old to play Indy. At least, when Sly made Rocky Balboa and Rambo, he looked good and both movies were millions of miles better than this excuse. Just like Emmerich disappointed with 10,000 BC, Spielberg and Lucas go a mile further. I mean, come on, was Spielberg trying to make ET 2????? loooooooooool
Gee, I guess if a movie is part of a series then I should rate it higher because of this? ROFLMAO!
As far as Star Wars ep. 1-3.
I was referring to the gratuitous overuse of CGI in place of writing, dialog, story and character development that Lucas is now famous(or infamous)for.
Interesting use of the term "tight-wad", made absolutely no sense in that sentence.
So you're saying that some movie critics are stingy people when it comes to their reviews?
Of course this would mean that they create reviews and don't let anybody else read or view them.
*scratches head*
Either that or you don't know the proper use this term (along with not knowing what it truly means) or for some strange reason you believe that these so called movie critics are in fact misers.
Classic!
Another person proving my point.
Keep 'em comin'!
