Plot: Two sisters contend for the affection of King Henry VIII.
I love it!!! Natalie Portmant portrait a wonderful anne, Scartlet didnt do so good, i hated mary and didnt belive anything from her. I have to say that maybe the movie didnt tell the story as it is, but this movie has make me fell in love with the tudors history...
Brilliant movie...
It was everything I thought that it would be. This movie is so touching. My verdict is; It was very good. Superbly acted, beautifully shot.
Natalie Portman carries the film. Although her accent falters at times, it can be forgiven by the power driven behind her performance. Scarlett Johansson is also very impressive. In the book, Mary is drippy and annoying. But it appears that Scarlett did not make her so. She did the unknown character justice by portraying her as a selfless, good sister. Although Eric Bana was good, he did slightly disappoint, but I think that this might be due to his relatively short screen time. Jim Sturgess and Juno Temple shine. he plays the perfect George Boleyn who gets caught up in his sister's problems and tries in vain to protect her. I even forgot that Juno Temple was the malicious Lolaa from Atonement, she was so good! (Another fantastic film!(Amazing book, too!))
All in all, this movie was one of the greatest historical films. Not boring in the slightest. Very edgy.
I loved it.
This movie was great. It explains a moment in history in a such wonderful way. Eric, Natalie and Scarlett are superb!!
Great story, wonderful acting, perfect cast.
But be aware, it's not an all-audience film, the story may not appeal everyone
For two New Yorkers and an Aussie playing three most important names in European history..... it's cool.
I expected worse, like Anne Hathaway's version of Jane Austen.
Pity Henry Percy's dialogue throughout the movie was just "Guilty."
Absolutely loved this movie, first of all Eric Banner is a honey and made for such a sexy king, he was awesome in this as well as Troy. I had never heard of Natalie Portman who played Ann Boleyn but I thought she did an amazing job with her character, forceful, hard core...Scarlett Johansson did a great job as well the three of them together really made this movie come to life. This movie had everything, tragedy, very dramatic climax, love......and so on I definetly recommend to anyone to watch. This has now become one of my favorites....enjoy

This was an astounding movie. It left me wanting more and even researching about it. I wished that he would of stood with Mary. It's dispicable on how thier marriage was chosen for them. Without love. I will buy this movie. It was perfect but sad. One that I will see again.
I don't know that the historian in me fell in love with it, but as far as entertainment value goes, I liked it. I liked the competition between the two sisters; I think it's believable. Lots of scandal, lots of drama. Pretty good.
Well-acted. Portman delivers some delicious scenes. Johansson is expertly brilliant throughout. Bana shows some good force in his performance. A so-so movie. Satisfying, nonetheless.
Wow! The story is very captivating. Supported with great actings from Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johannsen, but still couldn't save the movie's terrible quality.
This movie was amazing! It had some disturbing plotlines and awkward moments, but it was thoroughtly enjoyable. I wish I hadn't waited so long to watch this.
Ah, well it was okay. If you've seen one costume drama you've seen 'em all. I liked it well enough but it just didn't capture the grandness of a big period piece like it was hoping to be.
Anne and Mary Boleyn (Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson respectively) are the daughters of a minor English nobleman, Sir Thomas Boleyn. Their mother is a member of the ambitious Howard family who are rather important in court. They learn of Queen Catherine's latest miscarriage, and know that she is unlikely to fall pregnant again. The Howards and Thomas Boleyn see this as a chance to seize power for the Howard faction, and they feel that the only way to do this is by ingratiating themselves with the infamous King Henry VIII (a surly Eric Bana) by making one of their female relatives his mistress. At first, they push Anne forward, but she fails and instead, Henry falls for the innocent charms of Mary, who is already married. Mary becomes Henry's mistress, and Anne is bitter, for she sees Mary as getting everything and overshadowing her, and she tries everything within her power to best Mary and to become Queen of England, since being the king's mistress is no longer enough for her. The story has potential, but for those of us who have read the book, it's a bit of a disappointment, for the characters are not as well fleshed out, and vital plot points are skipped to make the film shorter. Eric Bana is a terrific actor, but he is seriously underused in this film. Scarlett's Mary is not as innocent as she is supposed to be. However Natalie's Anne Boleyn covered a range of emotions and I was quite impressed by her. However, the relationship between Anne and her daughter Elizabeth was completely ignored, thus eliminating an important aspect of her character. Overall, not bad, but not great either.
I absolutely loved this periodic drama based on Anne and Mary Boleyn and their involvement with King Henry VIII. Fantastic performances from all the cast involved, the costumes are simply stunning and the story is captivating.....thumbs up on this!
Also if you are a fan of this film you might wanna check out the Series...The Tudors ;)
I have been waiting for Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson to do a film together. Their performances were amazing. Much like Marie Antoinette, you are more sympathetic to their situation and understanding of their actions when you see what they were put up against.
Excellent cast and based on a true story about two sisters who are pawned by their family into the Kings' court to bed the king and produce an heir to the throne. I love the costumes and drama.
This movie held my attention. Talk about learning some history. I can't believe people actually slept their way to royalty back then. Talk about wow.
Loved this!!!! Kept with history and it was a great interpretation! Loved the costumes and Natalie Portman does a hell of a job!!
KInd of slow but great performances from everybody and fantastic costumes. Just a long Tudors episode. This movie made me wonder what Boylen sister would I be and the for sure answer s Natalie POrtman's character
Natalie Portman is so amazing. She really made me believe in her character and feel sorry for her and hurt with her. Scarlett was kind of boring. Although I have been told this isn't a totally accurate movie, I still thought it was really interesting and I at least learned a little history from it ;]
Interesting spin on historical facts.Good storyline with good acting making it a good film to watch.
La película está muy bien hecha, y me hizo tener toda clase de emociones. En verdad me alegro de haber nacido a finales del siglo XX...
I loved this movie . Natalie Portman and Eric Bana were both great but Jim Sturgess was the best .in fact he was the one who made me cry he was just too innocent .He just loved his sister so much .and I couldn't hate Anne ,she could not be like Mary .
It was good but I felt let down after reading the book, the dvd was lacking in places. The cast did really well though.

the film was ok. have read the book and expected the film to be fabulous as well. It was alright, however the book is much better.
WOW I almost cried at how much it was bas compared to the book. THE BOOK WAS AMAZING, bu this? This was a joke.
i enjoyed the film a lot, the book is obviously better but if you just look at the film as a seperate thingyou can see how amzing it is.
it totally ruined the story!! especially since i read the book i was expecting more. i personally think the movie was too short. the freaking book was bigger than a harry potter book!
ok so this really has nothing to do with the acutal move. But it does have something to do with the theme. (if you are reading this pease dont stop and help andswer my question it is of high importance) so here it is:
Do any of you know how and or where to get clips of music that was listened to durring the time that anne boleyn really lived? You know queen elizabeth and king henry the eighth!!! Please i need this for an assignment which sucks!! anything will help im having no luck. this is a last resort!! thanks lots of love

Christinewannabe47 - This isn't actually a series, Gregory wrote The Other Boylen Girl well before any of her other Tudor books. Her series is called Wideacre. Although I've yet to read Wideacre, i have read all her Tudor books, and her one on slave trading, and they are all fabulous.
Personally I think the movie ruined the book. It completely misrepresented the relationships between ALL characters, left out countless important plot points, and just well sucked. Plus it totally missed the point that Mary is The Other Boleyn Girl! It made out Anne was. We've always known about Anne Mary's the forgotten Boleyn Girl, We even know more about Little Kitty Howard, and Mary's daughter with Henry (who was by the way not included in the movie) then we do about Mary herself... So how could they misinterpret that Mary was the other Boleyn Girl? And they ruined George who i adored!
ruined one of my favourite books and favourite historical character. Eric bana and scarlett were barely trying and her acting was not brilliant.
Natalie Portman was very good tho.
READ THE BOOK!
