Depending on which trade site you read, Ashton Kutcher will either be producing and starring in a comedy called "Like Father" or in a comedy called "Fathers Day." Variety says it'll be "Like Father," and since "Fathers Day" is already the title of a fairly atrocious Robin Williams vehicle, I'm betting that Kutcher will be smart enough to avoid the association.
The film was based on a pitch by two up and coming screenwriters (read: you haven't heard of them yet), but is getting a script touch-up by Kenneth Lonergan. He's the man who wrote and directed the excellent "You Can Count On Me" starring Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo. And if that pic was a little too indie for your taste, he also has credit on something called "Gangs of New York." I know that you've seen that one.
Here's the idea behind the "Father" film: a multigenerational family comedy about an estranged father and son who reconnect when they both become new fathers at the same time. So expect a lot of heart-warming bonding scenes around the changing table, in other words.
